Abstract

Le processus démocratique, exacerbé depuis la fin de la seconde guerre, a influencé la construction sociétale et les pratiques culturelles. Cette démocratisation se structure notamment autour de deux points dans les domaines de la culture : la définition de l’art et l’extension des activités culturelles. Il nous semble pourtant que l’émergence d’une culture de masse et le développement croissant de la commercialisation de l’art et de la culture ont transformé les structures propres à leur élaboration et à leur diffusion. Nous défendons ici l’idée selon laquelle les organisations culturelles ont besoin, pour être performantes, d’un management adapté. Il ne s’agit pas de dire ici que le management de la culture est une simple transposition des théories du management, mais de le considérer comme un domaine autonome, se distinguant par son altérité.
