Abstract

Perkembangan pasar modal di Singapura pada awalnya belum menunjukkan peran yang penting bagi perekonomian Singapura. Hal ini terjadi karena masih rendahnya minat masyarakat akan berinvestasi di pasar modal dan masih kurangnya pengetahuan masyarakat tentang pasar modal serta masih sedikitnya emiten yang terdaftar di bursa. Namun dengan semakin meningkatnya pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai investasi dan munculnya kebijakan pemerintah tentang investasi, perkembangan yang mengesankan mulai muncul. Nilai perusahaan adalah gambaran mengenai keadaan umum perusahaan. Nilai perusahaan merupakan suatu hal yang sangat penting karena ketika nilai perusahaan tinggi akan sertai oleh tingginya kesejahteraan pemegang saham. Semakin tinggi tingkat harga saham, maka akan semakin tinggi pula nilai perusahaan yang menunjukan prospek perusahaan kedepannya, serta mencerminkan total asset yang dimiliki perusahaan. Selain itu kebijakan dividen salah satu faktor penting karena beberapa alasan, pertama adalah perusahaan dapat menggunakan dividen sebagai alat untuk sinyal keuangan orang luar tentang stabilitas dan prospek pertumbuhan perusahaan dan kedua adalah dividen memainkan peran penting dalam struktur modal.
