Abstract

This text explores the urban protest as a phenomenon of maximum complexity, focusing on the simultaneity and unpredictability that define urban space. It begins by challenging traditional architectural paradigms that pursue legibility, order, and control, arguing instead that the urban emerges as a dense, unstable, and contradictory field. Through six theoretical frameworks —three addressing simultaneity (superimposed networks, layered meanings, living structures) and three addressing unpredictability (emergence, contingent trajectories, rupture)— the chapter constructs a conceptual foundation to understand the protest as the urban event par excellence. Each group is translated into a spatial category of analysis, enabling its graphic representation. Far from remaining in theoretical abstraction, the text offers an operative approach for reading the city through its excess and intensity, ultimately proposing a new grammar for architectural practice.
