Los impactos distributivos del COVID-19 en México. Un balance preliminar

Abstract

En el presente artículo analizo los efectos distributivos de la crisis económica provocada por la pandemia de COVID-19 en México. A partir de la información sobre ingreso laboral disponible en la Encuesta Nacional de Ocupación y Empleo identifico tres resultados principales. En primer lugar, la mayor contracción de ingresos fue experimentada por la población de menores ingresos, lo que llevó a un incremento en la desigualdad de ingresos. En segundo lugar, la entidad federativa en donde el impacto fue mayor fue la Ciudad de México, lo que provocó una reducción en la desigualdad entre estados. Por último, la recuperación de empleo parece seguir un patrón polarizante, pues al cuarto trimestre aún no se habían recuperado los empleos ubicados a la mitad de la distribución.
