Abstract

This text approaches political manifestation from its constitutive substance: the mass. Through a critical reading of Crowds and Power by Elias Canetti, it develops four perspectives that allow us to think of the mass as an architectural agent. First, it distinguishes that not every mass is a manifestation, thereby delimiting the scope of study. It then examines the mass as a mobile figure and a collective user that challenges the traditional frameworks of urban design. Finally, it explores its capacity to produce ephemeral spatial structures, recognizing in the manifestation a form of architecture that is unplanned yet effective. The reflection thus advances a critique of contemporary architectural tools, proposing a new projective grammar that incorporates instability, multiplicity, and intensity as fundamental conditions.
