Abstract

Rising world fuel prices have become a serious problem for Indonesia, namely the increase in the burden of fuel subsidies for the community which has been enjoyed by hundreds of millions of Indonesians for decades. national. The discourse of increasing fuel is not as easy as turning the palm of the hand, but it will have a tremendous impact on the lower middle class, namely an increase in the rate of inflation. Rising inflation rates will automatically reduce people's purchasing power due to a progressive increase in prices, of course this will be a problem for the lower middle class after the covid-19 pandemic for 3 years where the economic sluggishness is still felt as seen from the contraction in economic growth that has not yet reached the target set. has been determined and if it is followed by an increase in fuel prices, it is certain that a macroeconomic contraction will lead to a decrease in economic growth, high inflation rates, unemployment and the most frightening thing is an increase in the poverty rate. Is it true that the increase in fuel oil is the best solution for the Indonesian people?
