Abstract

Penyakit tiroid sering terjadi pada usia reproduktif termasuk saat kehamilan. Kadar hormon tiroid abnormal, baik kurang maupun berlebih, dapat berdampak buruk bagi ibu hamil dan juga janinnya. Kondisi hipotiroid pada ibu hamil harus dikoreksi, sedapat mungkin sebelum kehamilan, dengan suplementasi dan asupan makanan karena merupakan penyebab kerusakan neurologis utama di seluruh dunia. Hipertiroid dalam kehamilan dapat memberikan komplikasi serius, mulai dari penyulit obstetrik seperti preeklamsia, komplikasi gagal jantung pada ibu, hingga kelahiran prematur dan kematian janin. Hipertiroid dalam kehamilan sering memberikan gejala tidak khas, pengobatannya harus mempertimbangkan efek obat yang mungkin teratogenik.
