Abstract

Bani umayyah berasal dari bahasa Arab yang berarti anak turun Umayyah yaitu Ummayyah bin Abdul Syams salah satu pemimpin quraisy. Khilafah Bani Umayyah berusia 90 tahun dimulai dari kekuasaan muawiyah dimana pemerintah bersifat demokratis berubah menjadi kerajaan turun temurun. Setelah Khalifah Umayyah dilanjutkan dengan Khalifah Abbasiyah dimana pembentuknya berasal dari keturunan al-Abbas paman Nabi Muhammad, yaitu Abdullah as-Saffah ibn Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Abdullah ibn al-Abbas.
