Latar belakang sejarah gerakan koperasi

Abstract

Koperasi merupakan badan usaha yang dikelola dan dimiliki oleh anggotanya sendiri untuk memenuhi kebutuhan bersama. Koperasi hadir diberbagai lapisan masyarakat mulai dari kota-kota besar hingga ke pelosok desa. Kahadiran koperasi ditengah-tengah masyarakat Indonesia sudah dimulai sejak sebelum kemerdekaan Indonesia. Awal mula kehadiran koperasi di Indonesia berawal pada abad ke-19. Koperasi berasal dari negara Eropa pada awal abad ke-19. Pada saat itu, pria berkenbangsaan Skotlandia Robert Owen membuat konsep koperasi atas dasar kerja sama pada awal revolusi industri. Robert Owen kini dikenal sebagai bapak koperasi dunia. Menurut kementrian Koperasi & UMKM, koperasi sampai ke Indonesia berawal pada 1986 yang diperkenalkan oleh Patih R Aria Wiria Atmaja.
