Abstract

Negara Islam adalah suatu tipe pemerintahan yang berdasarkan pada praktek penerapan shari'a (Hukum Islam), “dispensation of justice”, serta menjaga aturan dan hukum1 . Sejak awal permulaan Islam, sejumlah pemerintahan telah didirikan sebagai "Islamic" . Negara-negara Islam merupakan “cara ketiga” diantara sistem politik demokrasi dan sosialis3 . Tulisan Maududi tentang ekonomi Islam menyatakan bahwa Islam sejak awal menolak pasar bebas kapitalis dan intervensi negara sosialis dalam perekonomian, serupa dengan tulisan Mohammad Baqir al-Sadr's yang menulis Our Economics di tahun 1961. Maududi menyatakan bahwa idealnya Negara Islam 1 Ashgar, Ali (2006). merupakan kombinasi prinsip-prinsip demokrasi dalam perwakilan dengan prinsipprinsip sosialis terkait dengan kesejahteraan orang miskin4 . Banyak Negara Muslim telah memasukkan hukum-hukum Islam ke dalam system hukum mereka. Negara muslim tertentu telah menyatakan bahwa Islam adalah agama Negara di dalam konstisusinya, tetapi masih belum menerapkan hukum Islam dalam pengadilannya. Negara Islam yang bukan kerajaan biasanya dirujuk sebagai Republik Islam.
