Abstract

Selama ini pengelolaan zakat berdasarkan Undang-Undang Nomor 38 Tahun 1999 tentang Pengelolaan Zakat dinilai sudah tidak sesuai lagi dengan perkembangan kebutuhan hukum dalam masyarakat sehingga perlu diganti. Pengelolaan zakat yang diatur dalam Undang-Undang ini meliputi kegiatan perencanaan, pengumpulan, pendistribusian, dan pendayagunaan.1 Dalam upaya mencapai tujuan pengelolaan zakat, dibentuk Badan Amil Zakat Nasional (BAZNAS) yang berkedudukan di ibu kota negara, BAZNAS provinsi, dan BAZNAS kabupaten/kota. BAZNAS merupakan lembaga pemerintah nonstruktural yang bersifat mandiri dan bertanggung jawab kepada Presiden melalui Menteri. BAZNAS merupakan lembaga yang berwenang melakukan tugas pengelolaan zakat secara nasional.
