Konsep Pemikiran Leibniz mengenai Kejahatan Serta Pandangan Teologis Tentang Kejahatan

Abstract

Evil is a universal experience, because it is experienced by all human beings. The experience of evil has challenged people to think and ask: what is the meaning of evil, why does evil occur, where does it come from? People wonder and look for answers to these questions. Leibniz is one of those who are challenged to reflect on the experience of evil and suffering. He finally defined evil as the absence of something, just as a hole is the loss of something. Leibniz was the creator of the word theodice, "God's justification" of evil. He explained that God's goodness does not contradict evil, and that man's freedom does not contradict God's omnipotence. If it is said that God is the source of all things, then in this case it must be said that evil does not originate from God because God is the source of all good things. Therefore evil cannot be an argument against God, nor can it be a basis for disbelief in an all-good and all-powerful God. Keywords: Reason, God, Creation, World, Faith, Evil.
