Abstract

Di dalam Al-Qur'an kata mudharabah tidak disebutkan sejarah jelas. Al-Qur'an hanya mengungkapkan mustaq dari kata dharaba sebanyak 58 kali. Di antara jumlah itu, terdapat kata yang dijadikan oleh sebagian besar ulama fiqh sebagai akar kata dari mudharabah, yaitu kata dharaba fi al ardh yang artinya berjalan di muka bumi. Mereka menganggap bahwa yang dimaksud berjalan di muka bumi ini adalah bepergian berjalan ke suatu wilayah untuk sebuah perdagangan. Sementara dalam hadis, akar kata mudharabah (dharabah) juga banyak disebutkan, namun memiliki arti yang bermacam-macam, misalnya; harta mudhaariba al qaum, sehingga kami memerangi kaum tersebut. Dharaba di sini berarti perang atau jihad. "Kana yaqdhi fi al mudharib illa biqadha'ain, kata dharaba di sini pun tidak menunjukkan arti mudharabah yang kenal sekarang."
