Harcèlement scolaire : Quelle est l’ampleur du problème ?

Abstract

Pour la première fois en 2015, l’enquête PISA a collecté des données sur l’exposition des élèves au harcèlement. Ces données révèlent l’ampleur de ce phénomène. En moyenne, dans les pays de l’OCDE, environ 11 % des élèves indiquent faire souvent l’objet (au moins quelques fois par mois) de moqueries et 8 % de mauvaises rumeurs à l’école, et 7 % signalent être souvent tenus à l’écart.Le harcèlement peut avoir une incidence négative sur la réussite scolaire, car il affecte la capacité des élèves à se concentrer. Les établissements où la prévalence du harcèlement est forte selon les normes internationales (soit ceux où plus de 10 % des élèves sont souvent harcelés) obtiennent en moyenne un score en sciences inférieur de 47 points à celui des établissements où le harcèlement est moins fréquent (où moins de 5 % des élèves sont souvent harcelés). Ces relations semblent indiquer que le harcèlement peut à la fois résulter du désengagement des élèves et de leur difficulté scolaire à l’école, et les accentuer.
