L’équité dans l’éducation : Où s’est-elle améliorée ces dix dernières années ?

Abstract

La persistance des inégalités sociales dans l’éducation – le fait que les enfants de parents riches et très instruits réussissent en général mieux à l’école que ceux venant de familles moins privilégiées – est souvent perçue comme une tendance des systèmes d’éducation difficile à inverser. Les pays du monde entier ont cependant tous à coeur de minimiser l’incidence négative du statut socio-économique des élèves sur leur performance à l’école. L’enquête PISA montre que, loin de l’idée qui voudrait que l’inégalité des chances soit un phénomène inéluctable, les systèmes d’éducation peuvent devenir plus équitables en relativement peu de temps.
