Abstract

L’accès aux programmes d’éducation et d’accueil des jeunes enfants (EAJE) s’est généralisé ces dernières années, entraînant une augmentation des taux de scolarisation tant dans les programmes de développement éducatif de la petite enfance que dans l’enseignement préprimaire. Les résultats scolaires des élèves à l’âge de 15 ans pourraient en partie s’expliquer par la préscolarisation dans l’enseignement préprimaire, qui diminue fortement la probabilité de faible performance aux évaluations du Programme international pour le suivi des acquis des élèves (PISA). L’enseignement préprimaire peut jouer un rôle capital dans la promotion de l’égalité dès le plus jeune âge, notamment en ciblant les groupes défavorisés tels que les immigrés de la première et de la deuxième génération. L’assurance et le contrôle qualité des programmes d’EAJE sont essentiels pour garantir leur incidence positive tant sur l’équité que sur la réussite scolaire.
