Abstract

On 27 and 28 September 2023, the Directorate-General for Structural Reform Support (DG REFORM) organised a workshop on “Tourism data sharing, governance and integration” through the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument (TAIEX), with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) as the implementing partner of the Technical Support Instrument projects for the 2022 Flagship “Support to the tourism ecosystem: towards a more sustainable, resilient and digital tourism”, and the beneficiary countries Greece, Spain, Croatia, Italy, Malta, Portugal and Slovenia. This paper, jointly produced by the European Commission and the OECD, captures the essence of the workshop's dynamic discussions and the valuable contributions of invited speakers and discussants. Over the course of the event, experts from diverse fields came together to explore key issues and innovative solutions, fostering a rich exchange of ideas and perspectives. This paper provides readers with a comprehensive summary of the topics addressed, highlighting the methodologies, strategies, and challenges discussed. By presenting the collective knowledge and insights shared during the workshop, this document aims to inform and inspire future actions and policy developments in the relevant field.
