Ruralidades y turistificación en el sudeste de la Provincia de Buenos Aires: de la escala regional al fenómeno Chapa

Abstract

El objetivo del artículo es analizar el proceso de turistificación que acontece en Chapadmalal en relación con las características de las ruralidades presentes en la región del sudeste de la Provincia de Buenos Aires. Para ello, se aplican técnicas cuantitativas basadas en el uso de estadísticas oficiales y sistema de información geográfica a escala regional y entrevistas, observación directa y análisis documental a escala local. Para la región, los resultados evidencian cambios sociodemográficos como: descenso de la población rural (tanto total como aquella que reside en explotaciones agropecuarias), reducción de las hectáreas dedicadas a la producción primaria y heterogeneidad en lo que respecta a número de plazas hoteleras y parahoteleras, junto a otros indicadores que conforman un índice de ruralidad. Este tipo de cambios se manifiestan en Chapadmalal, conjugándose con una revalorización turística post pandemia que agudiza disputas y tensiones. Hacia la conclusión, se subraya la convergencia metodológica y el interjuego de escalas de análisis como claves para comprender el territorio.
