Imaginarios e infraestructura. Los planes de modernización del aeropuerto y los proyectos de "internacionalización" del balneario

Abstract

En marzo de 2018, el Ministro de Transporte anunció obras millonarias para modernizar el aeropuerto de Mar del Plata, tras una temporada récord de 122.000 pasajeros. El anuncio, que se vinculaba con el incremento de servicios low-cost, generó rápidamente demandas o expectativas respecto de la llegada de "vuelos internacionales". La posibilidad de atraer al turismo internacional y la esperanza de lograrlo a través de una modernización del aeropuerto, fueron un tema recurrente en la ciudad durante varias décadas; este capítulo atiende a esa cuestión en una coyuntura particularmente activa, la de los años sesenta, que culminaría en 1968 con la primera reforma importante del aeropuerto, la cual le permitió a Mar del Plata recibir aviones jet.
