Consumo de alimentos y regresión por cuantiles

Abstract

Este trabajo propone estimar curvas de Engel de alimentos por cuantiles para los hogares argentinos empleando la Encuesta Nacional de Gasto de los Hogares 2017-18. Dado que los efectos de los cambios en el ingreso no son homogéneos a lo largo de toda la distribución de la variable, porque los hogares tienen diferentes características, no observables, que intervienen en sus decisiones, esta metodología permite predecir cuáles son las respuestas diferenciales de los hogares en la proporción del gasto que destinan a los alimentos debido a cambios en su ingreso de acuerdo a su posición relativa en la distribución condicional.
