Modelo de externalidad por interdependencia trófica. Caso anchoita merluza

Abstract

La anchoita es un recurso prácticamente virgen de gran potencialidad pesquera y contribuye a sostener otras especies (merluza, caballa, anchoa de banco, etc.). Casi todas las especies de interés pesquero se alimentan de anchoita, solamente la presión anual de predación de la merluza es estimada en 2,6 a 6,2 millones de toneladas. Existe una interdependencia ecológica entre la merluza y la anchoita derivada del consumo de la anchoíta (presa) por la merluza (depredador). En este trabajo se analizan las discrepancias entre los costos privados y sociales derivados de la interrelación entre estas especies. La divergencia entre los costos privados y sociales de la pesquería de anchoita constituye una externalidad Pareto relevante, cuando la eliminación de los efectos externos implica un beneficio neto positivo para la sociedad.
