Furniture distribution in the Netherlands
The Netherlands is the sixth Western European consumer and importer, providing 4% of WE demand and absorbing about 6% of WE imports. The Dutch furniture sector is traditionally characterised by openness, favoured in this by its key geographic location as the doorway to Europe. Netherlands peculiarity is the highest value of import penetration from extra-WE countries. A peculiarity of the Dutch distribution system is the presence of a specific format for some categories of goods that is the 'boulevard'. The boulevards dealing in furnishing products are called Woonboulevards. The report provides trends in home furniture consumption, analysis of the furniture distribution system by channel, retail formats and sales performances of top retailing companies operating in the Netherlands.
