Ein verhaltensökonomischer Blick auf Gehaltsunterschiede zwischen Frauen und Männern

Abstract

Frauen verdienen im Schnitt nach wie vor weniger als Männer. Obwohl in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten große Fortschritte in der Gleichstellung von Männern und Frauen gemacht wurden, gibt es immer noch Ungleichheiten. Matthias Sutter wirft einen verhaltensökonomischen Blick auf mögliche Ursachen für die ungleichen Gehälter von Männern und Frauen. Dabei konzentriert er sich auf Geschlechterunterschiede im Wettbewerbsverhalten, im Verhandlungsverhalten und in der Wahl, in welchen Branchen jemand arbeiten möchte. All diese Faktoren können einen wichtigen Teil der Gehaltsunterschiede zwischen Männern und Frauen erklären, entziehen sich aber einfachen politischen (bzw. gesetzlichen) Interventionen. Abschließend wird auch die Bedeutung von Kindern für Gehaltsunterschiede zwischen den Geschlechtern diskutiert.
