Crescita e disuguaglianza dei redditi a livello mondiale

Abstract

In questo lavoro abbiamo presentato un modello di crescita dove il livello dell'output vienedeterminato grazie alla scelta di allocazione del tempo tra accumulazione di capitale umano ed attività direttamente produttiva. In questo modo il livello dell'output lungo il sentiero di crescita bilanciata dipende dal livello di capitale umano accumulato, oltre che dai parametri relativi ai fundamentals: crescita esogena della forza lavoro, quota di reddito dedicata al risparmio e quote distributive dipendenti dalla tecnologia. Successivamente questo modello è stato stimato in due data-sets, uno molto recente di tipo cross-sezionale ed uno longitudinale sull'arco di un quarantennio. Entrambe le verifiche confermano il ruolo positivo esercitato dal capitale umano nella determinazione del livello dell'output pro-capite, mentre più discutibile è il ruolo esercitato dalla crescita della forza lavoro, approssimata con il tasso di crescita della popolazione (per via della nostra assunzione di piena occupazione). Trova infine confermail ruolo positivo esercitato dalle quote distributive, nella misura in cui è possibile approssimarlo con la variazione degli investimenti in capitale fisico.
