Abstract

This paper summarizes the main features of SHARE, the “Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe†. SHARE is a comparative pan-European survey aimed at documenting and better under-standing the repercussions of demographic ageing for individuals and society as a whole, and forming a sound scientific basis for countermeasures adopted by health and social policy.
