Pauvreté multidimensionnelle et conditions de vie au Mali (2001 – 2006)

Abstract

L’approche multidimensionnelle permet d'appréhender les progrès du pays en matière de réduction de la pauvreté et des inégalités. Elle est ici appliquée aux données d'enquêtes EMEP (2001) et ELIM (2006) à l'aide de la technique d’analyse en correspondances multiples pour construire un indice composite de bien-être. Nos résultats montrent que la pauvreté baisse mais reste essentiellement rurale avec un développement inégal des régions et des classes sociales. Ils suggèrent une spécificité des variables selon les zones géographiques affectant les niveaux de pauvreté. Près du tiers de la population est frappée par la double pauvreté, monétaire et non monétaire, en 2006 contre environ 41% en 2001. On note au passage une relation positive entre pauvreté monétaire et pauvreté non monétaire. Il ressort que les disparités de genre intragroupes sont plus importantes que les inégalités intergroupes. Ainsi, l’égalité des chances est moins évidente entre les hommes ou les femmes qu’entre les hommes et les femmes.
