- Análisis Económico De La Elección De Carrera Universitaria. Un Modelo Logit Binomial De Demanda Privada De Educación

Abstract

This paper analyzes, using a binomial logit model, the factors that determine a students decision on a three or four year University career. The microeconomic model we consider includes the most important aspects of educational choices. The results show how social background, family earnings and scholastic ability affect a youth¿s educational choice in practice. Este artículo presenta un análisis microeconómico de la demanda de Educación Superior de los graduados de Enseñanzas Medias que se matriculan en la Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales de la Universidad de Granada en las dos posibles carreras de estudios empresariales: Diplomatura en Ciencias Empresariales (carrera de ciclo corto), o Licenciatura en Administración y Dirección de Empresas (carrera de ciclo largo). Utilizando un modelo logit binomial intentamos averiguar los condicionantes de la elección de alternativa por parte de los estudiantes. En nuestro modelo logit de elección educativa incorporamos, entre otras, aquellas variables que la -teoría del capital humano- considera como relevantes en las decisiones de invertir en educación. El modelo estimado explica las elecciones educativas de los jóvenes en función del logro educativo de sus padres, nivel de renta familiar y habilidad escolar.
