Abstract

This paper examines the job search behaviour of the working age population nonemployed,and the job search intensity of job seekers, using pooled cross sections for theperiod 1987 to 1991. Our purpose is to examine the changes occurred in job searchbehaviour in the Spanish labour market and the factors behind such changes, and how thePublic Employment Office (INEM) and the unemployment benefits have affected job searchbehaviour. Este trabajo examina el comportamiento en la búsqueda de trabajo de los individuosen edad de trabajar que no estan trabajando, y la intensidad en la búsqueda de trabajo deaquellos que activamente buscan trabajo. Utilizamos secciones cruzadas conjuntas del periododesde 1987 hasta 1991. El propósito es examinar los cambios producidos en elcomportamiento de búsqueda de trabajo y los factores determinantes de dichos cambios,igualmente se estudia como el INEM y los subsidios de desempleo han podido afectar dichocomportamiento de búsqueda.
