Medicion De La Segregacion Ocupacional En Espana: 1964-1988

Abstract

This paper, based on recent contributions to literature on themeasurement of occupational segregation, presents a critica1 evaluation of thesegregation indexes and introduces a new methodology for the breakdown of itschanges throughout time. The analysis has been applied to the Spanish laborrnarket, for the period 1964-1988, to show the segregation evolution, todeterminate which occupations contribute more to it and to show the risingpressures the recovery of employment has exerted on its dimension. Este trabajo, inspirándose en las aportaciones recientes de laliteratura sobre medición de la segregación ocupacional, presenta unavaloración crítica de los índices de segregación y una metodología novedosapara la descomposición de sus cambios a lo largo del tiempo. Aplicado almercado de trabajo español para el período 1964-1988, el análisis muestra laevolución de la segregación, determina qué ocupaciones contribuyen más a ellay evidencia las presiones alcistas que sobre su dimensión ha ejercido larecuperación del empleo de los últimos años.
