L'impact, sur l'offre de travail des mères, de la disponibilité locale des services de garde d'enfants. Synthèse de la littérature empirique

Abstract

Ce papier propose une synthèse de la littérature relative à l?impact, sur l?offre de travail des mères, de la disponibilité locale des services de garde d?enfants. Ces travaux sont menés dans le cadre standard d?un modèle néoclassique d?offre de travail individuelle adapté au cas des mères de jeunes enfants. La disponibilité locale des services de garde d?enfants y est mesurée au moyen de taux locaux d?équipement (le rapport entre les capacités d?accueil et le nombre d?enfants d?un groupe d?âge donné au sein d?une zone géographique donnée), ce qui a pour inconvénient principal d?ignorer que cette disponibilité diffère selon les caractéristiques socio-économique des familles. La quasi-totalité des auteurs concluent à un effet signi?catif positif, sur l?offre de travail des mères, de la disponibilité locale des services de garde d?enfants ; on apprend toutefois peu de choses sur l?ampleur de cet effet.
