Abstract

L’objet de ce papier est d’analyser l’impact, sur la participation des mères au marché du travail, de la disponibilité locale des services collectifs de garde d’enfants. Contrairement à la littérature existante, notre mesure de cette disponibilité tient compte des règles de priorité existantes dans les structures d’accueil collectif, ainsi que de la proximité de ces structures au domicile familial. Nous utilisons un modèle bivarié multiniveaux pour expliquer à la fois la probabilité des mères en couple de travailler et la probabilité de recourir à un mode de garde collectif. Les résultats obtenus con?rment que la disponibilité locale des services collectifs de garde d’enfants a un effet positif signi?catif sur la participation des mères au marché du travail ; le recours à des cas-types suggère que l’ampleur de cet effet est importante.
