Abstract

Digital competence is a core element of teachers’ professional profile. Based on DigCompEdu, the European conceptual framework for the Digital Competence of Educators, SELFIEforTEACHERS is a self-reflection tool to support building of digital competence for primary and secondary teachers. Through a self-reflection process, teachers can self-assess their digital competence, identifying strengths and weaknesses. Based on the tool feedback, they can plan their professional learning and further development of their digital competence. SELFIEforTEACHERS aims to empower teachers to actively engage in their professional learning process and to support them in their use of digital technologies in their professional context. It is a learning journey rather than an assessment tool. At the same time, it provides a tool for education systems to support teachers in their professional development. Aggregated results generated by self-reflections within a group, support planning of professional development programmes. SELFIEforTEACHERS is available online for teachers across Europe and beyond. It is currently available in 29 languages, including all official languages of the European Union. It is an action of the European Commission Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027.
