Abstract

No presente trabalho, discute-se em que medida políticas públicas de educação, erradicaçãoda discriminação e supressão das desigualdades regionais no mercado de trabalhoseriam capazes de abrir à massa da população a oportunidade de pertencer aoestrato dos ricos. Conclui-se que é muito pouco provável que políticas públicas sejamcapazes de transformar o mercado de trabalho ao ponto de permitir a elevação dosrendimentos da massa da população brasileira ao nível da população rica, mesmoconsiderando-se uma definição de riqueza bastante abrangente, na qual o estrato ricodefine-se a partir de rendas não muito altas.
