Estudio sobre competencias para el comercio y la diversificación económica en la cadena de valor de la exportación de artesanía en Guatemala

Abstract

La elaboración de textiles con técnicas ancestrales es más que un medio para la generación de ingresos de miles de hogares guatemaltecos. Representa un pilar fundamental de la identidad indígena Maya y una manifestación de la riqueza cultural de Guatemala. Este estudio sobre competencias para el comercio y la diversificación económica en la cadena de valor de la exportación de artesanía textil en Guatemala se desarrolla en el marco del proyecto “Fortalecimiento del Impacto en el empleo de las Políticas Sectoriales y Comerciales”, implementado por la Organización Internacional del Trabajo (OIT) en Guatemala, con fondos de la Unión Europea. El estudio reconoce el valor intrínseco de las artesanías textiles para Guatemala, su potencial para diversificarse y contribuir al desarrollo exportador del país. Para ello, analiza la cadena de valor y se anticipa al desarrollo de habilidades que serán requeridas para mejorar su desempeño y su competitividad en los mercados internacionales.
