Chipping away at labour: microelectronics and employment in canada; technical report

Abstract

Working paper developing an economic model for determining employment and labour productivity impacts of microelectronics technological change in Canada - describes model variables including labour force projections, labour intensiveness, input output analysis, etc., considers model results and sensivity tests, and concludes that for the short term there is a tendency to decreased employment opportunities as a result of increased productivity. Bibliography pp. 62 and 63, diagram and statistical tables.
