Abstract

Working paper describing a fishery worker peasant movement to obtain land settlement through self help in the Malaysian village of Kampung Batu - outlines village physical and ethnic group characteristics (Chinese and Malaysians), discusses race relations, economic disparity and the transition to farming, and considers organization and response to squatter agriculture as well as the failure of grass roots leadership and other problems of the struggle.
