Abstract

Working paper presenting a comparison of the efficiency of public sector direct employment creation schemes in several OECD countries - discusses current unemployment causes and extent, and examines features of past and on- going programmes, including effectiveness, costs, job satisfaction, wages, inflation and employment policy implications. Diagram and references.
