Abstract

A construçaÞo do Mercado Comum do Sul (MERCOSUL) é uma experiência inovadora no processo de integraçaÞo latino-americana, ao se produzir num contexto de liberalizaçaÞo comercial e de abertura unilateral das naçoÞes que o integram. Seja pela proximidade geográfica, seja pelas vantagens comparativas e competitividade dos países-membros, as trocas comerciais, com destaque para os produtos agropecuários e agroalimentares, aumentaram sensivelmente durante o período de transiçaÞo do Mercosul (1991-1994).
