Abstract

Un estudio reciente realizado en tres países latinoamericanos revela bajos niveles de satisfacción y prestigio, y pocos incentivos para la excelencia. La escasa atención dedicada a la formación y capacitación de los profesores se ha convertido en el principal factor que incide en la baja calidad de la educación en América Latina. Los principales incentivos para el perfeccionamiento docente (salarios adecuados, perfección, evaluación periódica y rigurosa, y exámenes competitivos para ingresar) se aplican raramente.
