Investimento Direto Estrangeiro e Produtividade nos Setores da Indústria Brasileira

Abstract

Este trabalho analisa o impacto do investimento direto estrangeiro (IDE) sobre a produtividade de 23 setores da indústria brasileira, entre os anos de 1996 e 2008. Utilizando dados da Pesquisa Industrial Anual (PIA-IBGE) sobre variações nos ativos das empresas, e dados da Relação Anual de Informações Sociais (RAIS-MTE) sobre escolaridade dos trabalhadores, construímos controles para capital físico e capital humano a nível setorial. Esses controles nos permitem isolar o efeito específico do IDE sobre a produtividade total dos fatores ou “nível tecnológico” dos setores. Nossos resultados sugerem que o impacto do IDE pode ser negativo no curto prazo, mas é positivo no longo prazo.
