Abstract

"The impending shortage of skilled workers in Germany has enforced legal changes which are to facilitate the access of young refugees to vocational training. These changes also affect young forced migrants that came to Germany without relatives. This IAB-Kurzbericht informs about the group of unaccompanied minors in Germany and presents research findings on the opportunities and risks that are linked to their way into vocational training. The research is based on qualitative methods (e.g. documentary analysis, guideline-based interviews and group discussions with experts counselling unaccompanied minors)."
