Abstract

"Dissolved training contracts are an important indication of problems within the vocational education and training system; even if such contract solutions mostly do not lead to dropouts, but rather a change of training company or the profession. Even if contract solutions sometimes lead to an improvement in the training situation, they do pose the risk of final terminations and are subject to various risks and costs. The available data on the risk and reasons for contract solutions is inadequate. Therefore, in the present study, training patterns can be studied with data of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) Halle-Dessau. Although solving reasons are not very specific in these data, they offer some advantages compared to the official statistics. Multivariate analyzes show the importance of school education and income opportunities. Secondary school students solve contracts significantly more likely than high school graduates and occupations with low training allowances are more affected than other professions. Other relationships, such as that women have a higher contract termination rate than men, or the higher contract termination rate for noncorporate training companies are due to school education and income opportunities. Other small but robust influences on the risk of contract termination are: a higher age at the start of training and the distance to the training company." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
