デジタル家電製品におけるコモディティ化の差異と論理 : なぜ薄型テレビはデジタルカメラよりコモディティ化が早いのか

Abstract

デジタル家電製品のコモディティ化の問題が,学術的にも実務的にも重視されている。現在まで,コモディティ化の要因はさまざまな視点から議論されてきた。しかしそれらの研究には,市場形成からコモディティ化が起きるまで,メーカーの行動や中間財市場の形成を踏まえた全体のプロセスと論理を説明する枠組みが示されていない。本論は冒頭で,薄型テレビ市場とデジタルカメラ市場を比較し,薄型テレビ市場の拡大が極度に早く,またメーカーの近年の利益率が低いことを確認する。われわれはこの関係を説明する論理を考察しながら,なぜ市場によってコモディティ化の進展に差異が生まれるかをとらえる枠組みを示す。
