Kostnader för cancer i Sverige idag och år 2040

Abstract

Cancer är alltjämt en av de stora folksjukdomarna i Sverige och antalet cancerfall per år ökar. Men idag kan många cancersjukdomar behandlas framgångsrikt och statistik från Socialstyrelsen visar på en sakta minskande dödlighet i cancer bland annat tack vare nya, effektiva behandlingsmetoder och förebyggande åtgärder. Cancer tar tid och resurser i anspråk både för människor som drabbas och för samhället som helhet. Kostnader uppstår eftersom resurser behövs för att diagnostisera, behandla och leva med cancersjukdom. Kostnader uppstår också för att sjukdom hindrar människor från att arbeta och utföra vardagliga aktiviteter. IHE har på uppdrag av Cancerfonden beräknat de samhällsekonomiska kostnaderna för cancer i Sverige under år 2013. Rapporten presenterar även en prognos av kostnaderna för cancer år 2040 utifrån framskrivna skattningar som gjorts av Folkhälsomyndigheten i samarbete med Cancerfonden. Cancerfondsrapporten 2016
