Abstract

This research report brings together two studies carried out in the Yonne department. The first study concerns the implementation of a protection policy for a water catchment site in Puisaye, the Gondards spring, located mainly in the commune of Saints, but whose protection perimeter includes part of the commune of Thury. The second study concerns a land consolidation operation that took place in Forterre in the communes of Lain and Sémentron. By bringing together two themes (water catchments and land management), two disciplines (sociology and geography) and two small regions (Puisaye and neighbouring Forterre), the report provides an insight into the effects of the local agro-environmental context on recurring issues in agriculture such as water protection, land consolidation and the disappearance of the bocage. After a brief presentation of the region and the Pays de Puisaye-Forterre, this monograph presents the results of the two studies separately, before attempting a synthesis that echoes the cross-cutting issues of the Dialog project.
