Toward a Kinshasa-Based EntreComp: Contextualizing the European Entrepreneurship Competence Framework for Universities in the Democratic Republic of Congo[Vers un EntreComp kinois : Une contextualisation du référentiel européen des compétences entrepreneuriales en milieu universitaire congolais]

This study examines the contextual adaptability of the European Entrepreneurship Competence Framework (EntreComp) within the university context of Kinshasa. Using a mixed-methods approach that combines the assessment of twenty-one experts with an analysis of the instrument's psychometric properties among 595 final-year students and recent graduates of the University of Kinshasa, the research evaluates its contextual validity and explores potential reconfigurations of entrepreneurial competencies. The findings confirm the framework's relevance and satisfactory psychometric properties at this pre-validation stage, while highlighting several conceptual reconfigurations as well as dimensions that are particularly valued in the local context. These results lead to the proposal of the notion of a "contextualized EntreComp," structured around a universal core of transferable competencies, a contextualized core derived from the observed reconfigurations, and an emerging core reflecting the specific characteristics of the entrepreneurial environment in Kinshasa. The study thus contributes to ongoing debates on the contextualization of entrepreneurship competency frameworks and the transferability of entrepreneurship education models.
