Abstract

Face à la croissance démographie, la problématique de l'emploi des jeunes est une urgence cruciale pour les pays de l'Union économique et monétaire ouest-africaine (UEMOA). Faute de trouver des emplois décents, une partie de la jeunesse se retrouve cantonnée à des activités informelles, rarement productives et peu en phase avec leur aspiration et souhait. Améliorer l'insertion professionnelle des jeunes actifs, définis comme les personnes entre 15 et 24 ans dans ce rapport, est donc une priorité. Ce rapport vise à apporter un éclairage nouveau sur la question de l'employabilité des jeunes, notamment qualifiés. Après avoir rappelé les termes du débat, le rapport étudie les raisons pouvant expliquer le sous-emploi des jeunes actifs au sein de l'UEMOA. Il explore également les solutions proposées pour faire face à ce défi. Une attention particulière est portée au rôle que pourrait jouer l'investissement d'impact dans cette problématique.
