Abstract

Dans l'inconscient collectif, l'accumulation matérielle reste synonyme d'accroissement du bien-être. L'idée de sobriété semble si éloignée de notre conception courante du bonheur qu'elle apparaît, à bien des égards, relever de l'utopie, c'est-à-dire d'une vision transformatrice trop idéaliste pour se concrétiser. Pourtant, de nombreuses initiatives se développent aujourd'hui pour donner une consistance empirique à cette notion. Nous proposons ici de les appréhender à partir du concept d'utopies réelles élaboré par E. O. Wright (2017). Nous nous intéressons aux espaces ruraux, lieux où se fabriquent aujourd'hui bon nombre d'utopies réelles inspirées par la pensée des limites. Il s'agit ici d'en dresser un panorama et d'examiner en quoi elles sont potentiellement fondatrices d'un nouveau modèle productif.
