Abstract

Sports organizations governance represents a major managerial challenge requiring transparent, responsible, and ethical management. This research proposes a scientific literature review analyzing 25 publications (2004-2022) on sports governance. The study presents dual interest: theoretical, through the identification of conceptual frameworks and analysis of governance theories applied to sport; managerial, through understanding organizational practices necessary for sports entities development. The analysis reveals a temporal evolution in three phases and identifies four main research axes: normative, organizational, contextual, and performance-oriented. Results highlight tensions between amateur tradition and commercialization, as well as the need to adapt governance models to sport sector specificities. This study contributes to sport sciences by providing a synthesis of current knowledge and future research perspectives.
