Abstract

This case study discusses the role of digitalization in decision-making within the automotive supply chain. She is more specifically interested in the case of the supply chain of the French group Renault by exploring through participant observation the way in which this manufacturer articulates three emerging technologies, IoT, blockchain and big data, to enable decision-making in the management flows of parts and vehicles. The results show that IoT (capture of generated data), blockchain (decentralized and secure storage and sharing of collected data) and big data (data analysis) are complementary and form a digital and connected ecosystem allowing managers to take decisions both to react and adapt to hazards and crises (resilience) and to anticipate them (proactivity).
